If you’ve read my About page then you already know that my boyfriend used to be shorter than me. You also know that I just could not get past it. The difference in height almost ruined our relationship.
When we first started dating, I thought that I would learn to live with it because he was such an incredible guy. Besides, I believed at that time that adults could not grow taller.
I did everything I could to minimize the height difference, including changing my hairstyle. Previously, I had often worn up-do’s but since they emphasize height, I started wearing my hair down and as close to my head as I could without looking like I slept in a helmet. My beautiful, sexy heels sat collecting dust on the floor at the back of my closet. Flats became my new footwear, regardless of the season or occasion.
By the time we’d been dating for about six months, I had a list of things that I felt were being affected by the difference in height. For instance, when we danced, I couldn’t snuggle into his shoulder. I was jealous of the other couples on the dance floor who held each other so close and comfortably.
I was getting more miserable with each passing month. My boyfriend was noticing that something was wrong but how could I tell him that his height bothered me, that I wanted him to grow taller?
It got to the point where I had decided to end our relationship. I was sad to do it but I’ve never had any trouble attracting men, so I knew that I could get another boyfriend. Still, this one was so amazing that I really didn’t want to lose him.
Luckily, I didn’t have to. It turned out that my boyfriend had been paying attention. He already knew that I was uncomfortable with the height issue and he didn’t want to lose me any more than I wanted to lose him.
He kept looking for a solution until he found one that actually works. Thanks to the advice and information from Grow Taller 4 Idiots™, he is now taller than I am and we are happier than ever!
